The Kansas City Chiefs dominated the Denver Broncos on the road Thursday night, picking up a 30-6 victory in Denver. While a 24-point road victory should be a huge deal for the Chiefs, all of Chiefs Kingdom is waiting to hear details on what knocked MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes out of the game in the second quarter.

Mahomes injured what looked like his right knee in the second quarter and did not return. In his absence, the Kansas City defense picked up the slack with a dominant performance, allowing just 202 total yards and picking up nine sacks.
With the victory, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid picked up his 200th career victory as a head coach.
Here are our five biggest takeaways from the game:
1. We’re all holding our breath
As everyone in Kansas City and across the country knows by now, Patrick Mahomes injured his right knee in Thursday night’s game against the Broncos. Nothing has been announced by the Kansas City Chiefs training staff as of yet, but all speculation is that Mahomes dislocated his knee cap on a quarterback sneak.
Time will tell if Mahomes will miss significant time due to injury. All of Chiefs Kingdom is holding their collective breath.
2. Welcome back, Chiefs defense!
The Chiefs defense had not been good over the team’s last three games, but they showed A LOT on Thursday night in Denver. With the Chiefs coming in losers of two straight and on a short week on the road, the defense set the tone. Despite a few tough penalties on the first drive that led to a touchdown for the Broncos, the defense was phenomenal on Thursday.
The Kansas City defense allowed just 205 yards in the game while coming away with nine sacks of Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco. This from a defense that had zero sacks in the previous two games. The defense also returned a Flacco fumble for a touchdown in the second quarter.
3. Welcome to the party, Frank Clark
Frank Clark would probably be the first to tell you that he needed to be better, but he showed out on Thursday night for the Chiefs. After picking up just one sack and a handful of tackles in the first six games, Clark had a big game against the Broncos.
Clark finished with two sacks and five tackles in Kansas City’s victory on Thursday night. If this is the Frank Clark the Chiefs are going to get moving forward, Chiefs Kingdom should be very, very excited.
4. Special Teams was great for Kansas City
The special teams had a big night for the Chiefs as well on Thursday night. Harrison Butker finished a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals and 3-for-3 on PATs. Dustin Colquitt had a big night punting as well, finishing with six punts for 266 yards. He averaged 44.3 yards per punt and pinned three inside the 20 yard line, helping the Chiefs dominate the field position game. Mecole Hardman also had a big return for the Chiefs, taking a punt back 36 yards in the first quarter to set up a field goal.
5. Seriously though, what a defensive performance!
The Kansas City defense was simply fantastic against the Broncos on Thursday night. The team finished with a season-high nine sacks in the victory, allowing the Broncos a single touchdown on the opening drive of the game.
After getting manhandled in each of their last two games, the defense allowed just 3.2 yards per play to the Broncos while allowing just 205 total yards. The Chiefs also held the Broncos to 71 rushing yards, ending a four game streak of allowing 180+ rushing yards.
